Cleaning company website design in Suffolk

The enemy of a small cleaning company’s website is its own quote form — the one that takes an email address and returns silence.

Domestic, end-of-tenancy and commercial cleaning are three different sales with three different urgencies. What they share is a customer who wants a number before they will talk to anybody, and a competitor who will not give them one.

Built, and live

Fettle Cleaning Co.

Four cleaners and two vans, so the enemy is the quote form that ends in silence. The price builder answers in the open — property size, how often, the extras — and lands on a figure and a first visit date before anyone has typed an email address.

The home page of the Fettle Cleaning Co. site

Fettle Cleaning Co. is a fictional business in an invented Suffolk town, built to the same standard as paid work and deployed to its own address. It is set to noindex so it can never compete with a real cleaning company in search — everything indexable about it lives on this page instead.

The brief

What this website actually has to do

A price on the page

Bedrooms, bathrooms, how often, and the extras. A builder that lands on a figure beats a form that promises a call back, every time.

Three services, three pages

End-of-tenancy is a deadline and a deposit. A weekly domestic clean is a relationship. Selling both from one page sells neither.

Who is coming into the house

Insurance, DBS, how keys are handled and whether it is the same cleaner each week. Say it before it is asked.

A first date, not a callback

The conversion is a day in the diary. Anything that stops short of one is a lead, not a booking.

The build

How this one does it

  • The price builder answers in the open. Fettle asks the same questions a phone call would and shows the figure and a first visit date before anyone types an email address.
  • No photographs, on purpose. Cleaning is the worst genre in stock photography. The site is carried by type, colour and the calculator instead, and it is stronger for it.
  • Six pages that each do one job. Home, domestic, end-of-tenancy, commercial, the price builder and about. Nothing is asked to do two things.

What one costs

Website, built and handed over, from £300. A website designed, built and handed to you outright. You own the site and the hosting account, and there is nothing to keep paying me. Later changes are £49 an hour, only when you ask for them, and there is a monthly option at £89 if you need software as well as a site.

Quotes are fixed and in writing before anything starts, and I show you the finished site on a development link before asking for a penny.

Want this for your cleaning company?

Tell me what your business does and how people currently find you. I build it, show it to you finished, and hand you the accounts at the end — you own what you pay for.
